Most of you will probably enter the country through the hectic Panama City. It has 2 airports, Tucumen, the International one and Albrook, the National one.

Don’t forget you need a flight back ticket and solvency proof (credit card should be enough) to enter the country.

Tocumen International Airport

All international flights operate to/from this airport which located 30km from the city center.
To get to the city center, you have different options:

Airport Authorised Taxi ($30)
– 1 or more people going to the same place: $30 for the taxi
– 2 or more people going to different places: $20$/each

Taxi ($10-15)
If you walk 600m to the main road, you’ll be able to get the ride for half or third the price.

Uber (12$)
If you find a wifi or data connection, you can order a Uber.

Bus/Metro ($0.25/0.35)
Until recently, taking these options were definitely a little bit more a hassle because you needed to walk to the main road (600m away) to reach the closest bus stop.
But since January 2019, this is part of the past, as the MiBus company opened a new route straight from the airport.
But to take the bus ($0.25) or the metro ($0.35), you need a prepaid metro card and there isn’t any vending machine at the airport (yet). So you’ll need to courteously ask a local to swipe down his/her prepaid card for you in exchange of the $0,25. But actually, s.he will probably do it for free.

Step 1.
Just outside of the airport, take the MiBus E489 Tucumen – Los Pueblos (5:00 AM-12:00PM, every 15 min) for 3 stops. Hop off at Est. Corredor Sur.

Step 2.
There, you’ll find the UTP (Universidad Technológica de Panamá) Metro station where you will be able to buy the precious sesame —the prepaid card.

To City Center/Casco Viejo and Nearby
Step 3.
Continue your journey by Metro until the terminal station, San Miguelito.
Step 4.
At San Miguelito, you can take the Line 1.

To Panama Viejo
Step 3.
Continue your journey by Metro until Cincuentanario station.

Step 4.
Take the bus I202.

Albrook International Airport

National flights are operating to/from this small airport located only 3 km west (as the crow flies) from Panama City center.

Taxi ($5-10)
From the Terminal to the center,
– 1 or more people: $5-10 for the taxi
From the main street,
which is 500m away, it should be about $2,5.

Bus ($0.25)
The MiBus C830 makes the connection between Albrook Airport (just outside the airport) and Albrook Transport Terminal, located just behind (still 3km walking distance). As you need a Prepaid Card to access the buses and as there isn’t any vending machine at the airport, you’ll need to ask a local to swipe down his/her card in exchange of $0,25, or you can take a taxi.
From Albrook Transport Terminal hub, you can buy the Transportation Prepaid Card take the Metro Line 1 or one of the many buses lines to go to the city center. As traffic jam is crazy at rush hours, I recommend you to take the metro.

Between Albrook and Tucumen Aiports
